背景

インターロイキン(IL)とは、白血球が産生する分泌分子群のことであり、様々な細胞に作用します。ILはよくサイトカインに分類されますが、リンパカインの一種でもあります。ILは多様な生物学的機能を持ち、免疫細胞の情報伝達の促進、活性化、調節などの免疫反応の調節に関与するだけでなく、自己免疫疾患、炎症性疾患、腫瘍など生体の生理・病理過程の調節に広く関与しています。インターロイキンは、サイトカインの構造的な相同性に基づき、IL-1、IL-2、IL-6、IL-10、IL-12、IL-17ファミリーなどのタンパク質ファミリーに分類されます。

インターロイキンファミリーが重要な薬物標的として注目されており、複数のタンパク質が医薬品に使われ、類似疾患の治療薬として大きなシェアを占めています。
